Coconut Shea Butter Lotion
Created to nourish and moisturize your skin, we make our lotion with vitamin rich shea butter. Read the fuller description below for an explanation of why we chose each ingredient.
Ingredients: Water, Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii), Apricot Kernel Oil (Prunus Armeniaca), Avocado Oil (Persea Gratissima), Emulsifying Wax NF, Stearic Acid, Optiphen (Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol), Fragrance Oil
We specially designed our Shea Butter Lotion to moisturize and nourish your skin. Here are the ingredients we chose and why we chose them:
Lotion is essentially a combination of water and oils. The proportion of each determines how thick or watery the final product is. Ours is a thicker lotion, so a little bit goes a long way.
Shea butter is rich in vitamins A and E, as well as essential fatty acids. It's deeply moisturizing, nourishing, and protects your skin's natural oils.
Apricot Kernel Oil
Light and quickly absorbed into the skin, apricot kernel oil is rich in omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids, which make it an excellent moisturizer.
Avocado oil is a little pricey, but worth it. Full of antioxidants like vitamins A and E, it helps heal skin damaged by sunlight.
Emulsifying Wax NF
This waxy substance (Botanical Name: Cetylstearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60) produces a wonderful emulsion between water and oil. An emulsion is the combination of two liquids that cannot normally be mixed together.
Stearic acid is a fatty acid found in vegetable fats. It makes lotion thicker, helps bind water and oils together, and gives lotion a pleasant fluffiness.
Optiphen (Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol)
Because lotion has water in it, it requires a preservative to guard against bacteria, yeast and mold. Optiphen is an excellent, paraben-free, broad spectrum preservative, which we've had lab tested to make sure it's effective.
Essential Oil or Fragrance Oil or Unscented
Our lotions are pleasantly scented with essential oils, fragrance oils, or left unscented. Essential oils are 100% natural and distilled or pressed from the aromatic parts of the plant. When we cannot find essential oils for a fragrance, we use cosmetic grade fragrance oils, which are synthetically produced. We search high and low for fragrance oils that have the exact scent of the plants for which they're named. For customers who are sensitive to scent, we offer unscented lotion.
Scented Only With Essential Oils: Lavender, Lavender Lemongrass
Scented with Fragrance Oils: Cape Cod Cranberry, Coconut Lemongrass, Mint Garden, Lilac, Oatmeal, Milk & Honey
