Tessa in Farm Country

Tessa Starts School!

Today is the first day of our new life.
Tessa, our youngest, is starting childcare and is SO excited to be heading off to “school” like her big sisters.
Yesterday, I took her on a long walk around Rollinsford, soaking in the morning when I would usually work from home or finish up house projects while she played.
As for Katy and me, it feels a bit like we’re starting school ourselves. For years, we’ve invested in the dream of working together. We took turns working at home while the other one made soap or candles, sometimes going in at night because batches of lotion had to be bottled before the next day.
Today we’ll be working in our mill studio together on a normal schedule. Katy’s making fall candles that have sold out, and I’m making more soap dollies to increase how much soap we can have drying.
For our local customers, we’re open 10-4 now on Tuesdays and Fridays. There’s something tremendously special about purchasing products where they’re made from the people who make them.
Thank you all for making this dream come true. There were lots of off ramps along the way, and we don’t take for granted that—because of you—Joy Lane Farm continues to grow.

Just found you guys on Google trying to find a healthy lotion without a lot of ingredients and when I started reading about your products and your family I got really excited!
I am a 74 year old disabled Vietnam veteran with severe peripheral neopathy from the effects of Agent Orange so I use alot of lotion on my feet and body. My wife of 48 years and I use a lot of expensive lotion and I started checking out all the ingredients and said there’s got to be something better. I really belive I struck gold when I read about your products and family. My wife who is 7 years younger than I, is my caregiver who the VA pays to help me physically and every other way wise. We have had 7children,5 girls,2 boys, and we now have 18 grandchildren, so family means a lot to us. I loved seeing your blog about your little family! We have a lot of fond memories of our children growing up and now enjoying making memories with our grandchildren, 16 boys and 2 girls. Most of our family lives in the West Palm Beach area here in sunny South Florida accept for one of our girls and her husband and 3 boys and 1 girl who live in South California.
It looks like you are located somewhere up north, I grew up in Maine and my wife in Connecticut, we meet in Rhode Island at photography school, got married in 1978 and moved to Bethlehem, NH,.
We’ve been here in Florida since 2014. We also have 2 great puppies a Labrador Retriever named Callie who was trained to be my service dog in 2017 to help me and a male Bischon who is character that we got from a shelter in 2015, they are great companions.
Well I’ve gone on for quite a while but I figured you being family oriented people would find it interesting. We are putting an order together so you’ll be getting our order soon. I’m sure we’ll be a regular customer.
Love your products, love your life.
May you and your family be well, happy and healthy.
Sincerely
Steve Nelson

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the kind note! Florida sounds beautiful right now with the cold, New England spring weather. We’re on the NH/ME border, and it was snowing earlier this week. We loved hearing about your family! Hope you enjoy the lotion!
