Powderhouse Hill is four minutes down the road and one of the many reasons we love living in a small community!
It's owned by the town and run by a group of dedicated volunteers, so that everyone has the chance to ski for only $5 a day.
We took our kids for the first time this year, and they looked up the hill like they were looking up Mount Washington.
It's a lot bigger than a bunny slope. The way you get to the top is a thick rope that runs on wheels powered by a 1930s Ford truck engine.
There are no handles or knots on the rope, so it's common to see people falling when they try it the first few times. It took our eleven-year-old three times to get it, and when she did, the whole line started cheering.
We went the other night when they had the trail lit with lights and music playing. It was snowing, so there was no one there, except for us and a couple others. I don't know if I've ever had more fun with our kids!
