What is goat milk soap?
Natural soap is made by combining lye (sodium hydroxide) with fats, which are plant oils, like olive oil and coconut oil. Usually, the lye is dissolved in water. In goat milk soap, you dissolve the lye in goat milk instead. This gives you a superfatted bar that’s exceptional for your skin. Our goat milk soaps are made with goat milk from a local 4-H farm. For years, we owned our own goats and brought them to local fairs as part of the 4-H program. Now, we partner with other 4-H farms who are proud to carry on this tradition and provide us with goat milk for our goat milk soaps.
Why is goat milk soap good for your skin? What’s in the goat milk?
There are tons of reasons to use goat milk in soap, but here are the top three benefits of goat milk soap:
- Goat milk gives goat milk soaps moisture boosting fat molecules. Natural soap already has all the fats from plant oils, but the goat milk in goat milk soap adds extra fats that give you a superfatted bar that’s super moisturizing for your skin.
- Goat milk gives goat milk soaps lactic acid. Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that occurs naturally in goat milk that exfoliates your skin cells without drying them out.
- Goat milk gives goat milk soap vitamin A. The vitamin A in goat milk increases your skin cell turnover rate, reducing lines and wrinkles when you use goat milk soap.
Our goat milk soaps are made with 100% goat milk; no water is used. That’s why goat milk is listed as the second ingredient on our ingredients list, right after olive oil.
